Nollywood star Regina Daniels has hit back at her separated husband, billionaire businessman Ned Nwoko, after his controversial Facebook post in which he alleged that her family exposed her to drugs and deliberately undermined efforts to help her recover.
In several emotional online posts and leaked private messages shared on Sunday morning, Regina accused the Delta North senator of manipulation, emotional abuse, and mental control. She alleged that Mr Nwoko deliberately crafted a misleading story to damage her reputation, portraying her family as facilitators while hiding his own role.
“Ned, how could you lie so openly and without remorse? You know my family has absolutely nothing to do with this. You’ve always tried to cut them off because of the bond we share, and now you’re trying to make them look bad for no reason,” she wrote
Regina acknowledged that she struggled with drug use at one stage of her life but said her husband exploited the situation to publicly shame and embarrass her.
“Fine, I did drugs. So what? Is that even the issue between us? The moment we had a fight, you rushed to the public, shouting ‘drugs, drugs, drugs,’ because you knew it would make a perfect story for the media, something dramatic enough to distract everyone from the real issue,” she said.
Control
The actress alleged that Mr Nwoko engaged in a deliberate scheme of domination, cutting her off from family and friends and leveraging his power to threaten and pressure those around her.
She further stated, “You are looking for excuses to have everyone around me arrested so I’ll be left completely alone — without friends, support, or a safe space to rely on. Then, once I’m isolated and shattered, you expect me to return to you because I’d have no other option.
That has always been your method — to tear people down, strip them of strength, and control them at your convenience. But this time, it won’t succeed. Not anymore.”
‘You wanted me high’
She further claimed that the senator exerted control over her body and medical care.
“You claim you want me in rehab, yet you’re the same Ned who preferred me drugged because, according to you, I was ‘sexier’ that way. You liked me high because it made me more wild and romantic — exactly how you wanted me,” she said.
She also alleged that he confined her, confiscated her phones, and summoned doctors to administer injections meant for people diagnosed with bipolar disorder. “Whenever I speak up and say I don’t want to remain in this marriage, you brand me mentally unstable,” she added.
According to the actress, anytime she resisted his authority, she was detained and labelled unwell, only for those claims to disappear once she complied.
“The moment I agree just so I can leave that locked room, suddenly I’m okay again. I’m no longer unstable and apparently don’t need rehab anymore,” she stated.
She went on to challenge him, asking why he had not mentioned that all his wives and former wives allegedly use drugs, and questioned the reasons behind it.
She also accused him of authorising medical injections without her consent.
“Why don’t you also tell them how you lock me up and instruct doctors to inject me with drugs meant for bipolar patients?” she asked.
More allegations
Regina further claimed that her phones were frequently confiscated for weeks at a time, effectively isolating her from her family.
“You take my phones simply because you dislike how often I communicate with my family. You’ve never witnessed me behaving irrationally or losing control, so stop it. Every issue we’ve had began the moment I no longer wanted you, whether I was sober or not,” she said.
In a subsequent post, Regina’s tone became more intimate and defiant. She accused Mr Nwoko of possessing sensitive material involving her, making reference to a private recording.
“My dear ex-husband, thank you for shattering the crown you once placed on my head. No one knew us the way we did, and I trusted you completely — even with my private tape, which I pray never becomes public. Foolish me,” she wrote.
The actress revealed that she married Mr Nwoko at the age of 17 and insisted she had no involvement with drugs at the time.
“When I married you at 17, was I using drugs? I thank God for time. My name may be damaged for now, but I will reclaim my story. That narrative will fade and disappear,” she stated.
She also pledged to pursue the matter through legal channels.
“Now that I’ve revealed the one thing you held over me, what next? It’s time to fight with everything I have in court. I’m not retreating anymore,” she added.
Not legally married
In closing, Regina declared that their relationship was not a legal marriage and called on Mr Nwoko to leave her alone.
“Let me make this very clear: no matter how much you think you spent on me, it can never equal the value of my time, my prime years, my energy, and the career opportunities I sacrificed being with you.
“For the record, I would have filed for divorce long ago if there had ever been a legal marriage between us. We were never married in any court of law, and no documents were signed. Leave me alone, Ned. Marriage is not by force. Love is not by force. Stop trying to control what no longer belongs to you.”
As of press time, Mr Nwoko has not responded publicly to these fresh allegations.
PREMIUM TIMES reports that Mr Nwoko had earlier on Saturday responded to Regina’s previous allegations. In his response, he accused her of being a drug addict who resisted rehabilitation and also said he supported her family financially.
“I also routinely provided allowances to all family members, including her mother, Rita Daniel. Indeed, in the last two years, I have a record of transferring ₦125 million to her alone. When Regina started her rehabilitation, there was an explicit instruction by the doctors to strictly restrict people, especially her enablers, from having access to her. The therapy was arranged after I noticed troubling changes in her behaviour linked to her dependence on certain illegal substances, including going for 48 hours without sleeping and eating every two hours,” the lawmaker wrote.
